APP ALERT!! PODCAST ADDICT!

For those of us who do not watch TV or want cable, podcasts are the best way to keep up to date with the 'outside' world, but did you know that podcasts are also great listening comprehension tools for ESL students in and out of the classroom?

Taking a survey of your classroom to see what your students are interested in is a great way to start introducing podcastst to your students. Next, develope your podcast lesson around the topics your students are interested in.  You can devote one lesson to a specific field of interest, then another lesson to a different one.  You can also opt to use new podcastst that focus on current issues and events like I choose to.

Worksheets are the best way to reinforce the contents of a podcast. Worksheets provide structure and focus on what the instructor wants ESL learners to get out of the lesson. Engage the students. Elicit their opinions. Make a worksheet that has different kinds of exercises.

Rather than settling for whatever programs that come standard with the podcast of your choice, Podcast Addict lets you select your own list of podcasts from all available internet sources.  Video podcasts are also available if you choose to use them

Some of my favorite podcasts via Podcast Addict are:
Android Authority
Mossberg Review
AC360
